Welcome to our clinic

You won’t find any metal tables here!

A low stress environment is key to patients responding well to treatment.  Comfortable low tables, fountains, plants and essential oil diffusion create a relaxing setting for all. We are proud of the nose prints on our front door and have even found a few clients napping with their pets during acupuncture sessions.

A small privately owned practice founded in 2012 by Dr. Madeline Yamate to provide the kind of veterinary care she sought for her own pets.  Her goal is to increase the acceptance and use of alternative therapies in “mainstream” veterinary medicine.  A successful outcome for a challenging case is the best testimonial and the ultimate vote of confidence is veterinarians bringing their own pets here for treatment.

Finding your life’s purpose is a journey.  Dr. Yamate has found her purpose and passion and spends every waking moment in one of three ways: treating patients, studying a wide variety of treatment techniques, or being with her own dogs.  Her journey includes degrees from prestigious universities, several careers and most importantly a paperback book that changed her life – “Love, Miracles and Animal Healing” by Allen Schoen.  This book inspired her to seek holistic veterinary care for her dogs. Unable to find it, her solution was to go to vet school!  Following graduation, she was in private practice then accepted a prestigious one year internship in small and large animal acupuncture at the University of Florida.

She is deeply committed to advancing holistic veterinary medicine having instructed fellow veterinarians at the Chi Institute of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine, being an international lecturer and contributing author.  She is currently the president of the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Foundation which funds research in holistic medicine.

She has a soft spot for grey muzzles and is fueled by the challenge of battling cancer.

Grace - Client Care/Veterinary Assistant

Grace is truly compassionate and caring.  We are so fortunate she made a brave career change into the veterinary world.   She is quite accomplished at photography, loves her two big dogs, bakes a mean cookie, and yes, carries a big purse.

Jill our office manager

Jill - Practice Manager

Hi, I’m Jill the business manager. I take care of the nuts and bolts of running our small business, which is quite appropriate as my degree is in mechanical engineering from UC Davis. From ordering supplies to IT to HR, I have my hands in everything that does not require these letters….D.V.M. On a good day I get to help with our patients (animals) and clients (people).

I found Dr. Yamate when my dog was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney failure and western medicine had few options. A heavy weight was lifted from my shoulders finding a practitioner who was passionate and reassuring – I needed to know I was doing all I could! We were able to keep “Maddy” going for 6 months.  When I was able to retire from a 25-year career at Hewlett Packard, I joined Dr. Yamate in starting up this clinic in 2012.

Hollie was the most recent queen of my household who nearly made it to 14 yrs old.  I adopted her at ~1 yr old from the SPCA. She was an  Australian shepherd, husky and a little bit of spice. Squirrels, lizards and making me laugh were her favorite things. I’m quite proud of the 13 service dog puppies I raised for Canine Companions.  My pups often turn out to be “momma’s boys” and find their life’s work with disabled kids.  Outside of these walls you can find me outside!  Hiking, lake kayaking, photography and travel bring me joy.
